Masjid Maarof

A unique praying space embodying tradition

The Project

The circular-shaped main prayer hall is a focal point of the mosque and can accommodate 4,500 congregants. The distinctive arabesque façade allows for views and ventilation into the spaces within the mosque, through the porosity of the geometric façade. A distinctive huge arch forms the grand gateway and welcoming entrance to the mosque.

The Challenge

The design of the mosque had to address site constraints, while meeting the functional requirements and architectural aesthetic aspirations. To overcome this, a circular-shaped prayer hall to accommodate the highest congregation capacity and a L-shaped block framing the prayer hall and housing the supporting facilities, were designed.
